This course is designed for someone with little or no experience of mixing.  Regardless of whether your taking your first steps in DJ’ing, as a career or just a hobby, this course will provide long lasting results over a short period of time.  These sessions will mostly be practical mixing also with step by step instructions on how to mix and compile your own mix demo.  

Particular attention is paid to the crucial elements that make a difference between just mixing and nurturing your talent into becoming a great DJ:

The role of a DJ
The importance of play lists    
Crowd Interaction (Playing to the crowd)

The techniques covered in this course apply to any dance music style, but we will make our every effort to provide coaching to accommodate the individual styles of all our students.

When you apply for this course you will be asked about your musical preferences, and as this is a practice-orientated course, you will have the opportunity to implement your own style on a daily basis “live” in several of the bars in Ayia Napa we have access to for practice time.

The course will also include an exclusive tour of the Club and details on the venue’s history, to allow you to fully understand the importance of this Club in Ayia Napa’s Dance Music’s History.

You will also be provided with a Course Booklet that will give you crucial advice on How to DJ and how to further your Career. This book will provide the ideal guide to your day and can be used for effective tuition guide afterwards.

Once the course as been successfully completed you will be awarded with you completion certificate and should possess the technical skills to start creating your demo CD and approach promoters for gigs.  The most successful applicant on each course may be given the opportunity to showcase their skills in front of a live audience at the Legendary Castle Club & Nissi Bay Beach Bar.

Equipment:

• Learn about different mediums i.e Vinyl decks, CD Decks, Mixers, Speakers, Layout, Choosing the right kit, Setting up, Maintenance & Trouble Shooting.

•  Turntable techniques, cue points, loop functions and other advantages of working digitally.

Basic Music Theory:

• Beats, Bars, Song structure, Clashing Harmonies & Vocals 

Mixing Tools:

•  Gains, Equalizers, Cross fader curves, Kill Switches, Effects and other ways to abuse the mixer.

Monitoring

• Headphones & Monitoring techniques, controlling the booth.

Mixing & Blending

• From Blending to Beat matching and learning when to use one or the other

 DJ Decisions

• Defining your own sound, playing to the dance floor – which tracks to play next

 Mix Demo's

• How to make and plan your mix cd.  Attentions to levels, dealing with mistakes.

THE 1 DAY SUPER CLUB DJ EXPERIENCE:

The One Day Ayia Napa DJ Course allows DJ’s to come to the Club and spend a day with Top DJ’s and Top Tutor’s.  We have put together a special programme where DJ’s get to play in all 3 DJ Booths and get to experience the Club in a way that no other DJ’s have before.

In Addition to having Full Access to the Club and being taught by experienced DJ’s from every genre. All DJ’s will receive a special Castle Club Goodie Bag with CD’s, Guest Passes to the Club and a few surprises.

In addition to a drinks reception when you arrive – Lunch will be provided on the day to complete what will be an ultimate experience for any DJ at any level.

The day will also include an exclusive tour of the Club and details on the venue’s history, to allow you to fully understand the importance of this Club in Ayia Napa’s Dance Music’s History.

You will also be provided with a Course Booklet that will give you crucial advice on How to DJ and how to further your Career. This book will provide the ideal guide to your day and can be used for effective tuition guide afterwards.

The idea of the day is that you will be taught enough skills to be able to perform your set in the Main Room at the end of the day.
This will include:

• Equipment basics: Explanation of key parts Turntables, Mixer, CDJ’s.
• Cueing: How to Perfect your Cueing Skills
• Beatmixing Vinyl and/or CD: How to Beatmix in a professional environment
• Vinyl and CD control: Professional Control of Vinyl & CD
• Drop mixing: How to perform your first basic Mix.
• Performing your 1st mix: Mixing with two copies of same record
• Phrase Mixing: The ability to accurately mix using the musical phrases in a record.
• Headphone Mixing: How to mix professionally with Headphones.
• Controlling the booth. How to use Booth Monitoring
• EQ Mixing: How to use EQ to enhance the smoothness of your mixes.
• Track selection: Tip’s and Tricks on how to select the right music.
• Pitch control: How to effectively control the pitch.
• Final mix Preparation: Final tips from the Tutor’s before you prepare for your set at The Castle Club
